About the opportunity 

The Veterinary Radiographer will provide a high-quality imaging service to clients of the University Veterinary Teaching Hospitals, at Sydney (Camperdown) and occasionally Camden.  In this role you will facilitate and manage the collection of CT’s, MRI’s, and radiographs from patients to support case management. You will also actively participate in the teaching of undergraduates and postgraduate veterinarians in residency programs. You will deliver high standards of practice for the Diagnostic Imaging Unit staff members.  Additional responsibilities will include, but is not limited to, the preparation and breakdown of classes, inductions and basic training of equipment, providing technical advice and guidance to facility users, maintenance of inventories, and assistance with audits and risk management processes.

The difference about this position is the extraordinary variation as you are called on to image not just dogs and cats, but exotic and native species as well as research opportunities. Other examples of animals that have been image are lions, tigers, and koalas.

The Sydney School of Veterinary Science at the University of Sydney is ranked first in the Southern hemisphere and 16th in the world among veterinary faculties (QS rankings 2021). Regarding research, the faculty is the highest ranked veterinary school in Australia (ERA 5/5). This position operates within the Sydney School of Veterinary Science’s teaching hospital at the Camperdown Campus. The School of Veterinary Science educates students and conducts research in veterinary and related sciences. The teaching hospital provides the clinical learning experience for students and staff engaged in professional veterinary undergraduate and postgraduate training programs. The hospital is a commercial centre that provides a range of first-class and best-practice veterinary services to the public. This role will provide clinical services to clients of the hospitals.
