On Monday night,February 6 2023, the Victoria Branch gathered to celebrate a great year and present some surprises of Service Awards to Adam Steward, Allen Burton and Ingrid Jolley in recognition of their dedication and contribution to ASMIRT.
Victoria Branch Chair Kenton Thompson presented the awards.
Adam Steward
Adam has been a member of the Victoria Branch for more than 10 years. He is a strong proponent for the advancement of the profession, seeking improvement of patient care and outcomes. He is a co-developer of the Victorian Medical Imaging Tutor Group and founder of AusMICE, a national co-operative of medical imaging clinical educators.
Adam has previously held positions with ASMIRT’s Medical Imaging Advisory Panel (MIAP1) as a lead for general radiography, continuing this onto the General Radiography Reference Group. He has held positions with the Victoria Branch as Spectrum reporter and Chair of the Continuing Education Committee.
During the COVID-19 pandemic Adam was the convenor of the ASMIRT-NZIMRT Re-Vision 2021 Conference, the first ASMIRT conference convenor to run an entire virtual conference!
Allen Burton
Allen has been Chair of the Victoria Branch since 2014. Prior to this, he was the Victorian member on MIAP1 from 2005 to 2013 and the MRI Advisory Panel in 2004. He has been an ASMIRT member since 1989.
Allen sees the biggest challenge for the professional body is relevancy, given the role of the MRPBA. He also feels that it is important that ASMIRT continue to represent the profession in state and federal health matters.
Ingrid Jolley
Ingrid has been a member of ASMIRT since 1997, joining as a first-year student. Ingrid was a member and Secretary of the Continuing Education Committee from 2003 to 2014 and member of the Fellowship Panel, joining in 2016. Ingrid held the position of Victoria Branch Secretary from 2009 to 2022. In 2014, she was awarded Fellowship of the AIR.
Ingrid has enjoyed being involved in the Victoria Branch Committee as believes they do an amazing job looking after Victorian medical radiation professionals, students and interns/SPPs. She also believes that the Committee has made a significant difference to the development of the profession.
