It is estimated that 1 in 70 people are on the autism spectrum. Therefore, as healthcare professionals, we regularly interact with autistic individuals. Autism affects how a person feels, thinks, and experiences their environment, which can present unique challenges for the patient-practitioner interaction within the healthcare setting.
To ensure autistic patients have positive experiences and outcomes within our departments, we must adapt our patient care and expand our knowledge in this field.
Join us for this event as we:
– Gain insight into what autism is;
– Discuss the various needs that may need to be met during clinical interactions for autistic patients;
– Explore the unique challenges that may arise for MRS practitioners
– Examine how we can adapt our care to ensure that autistic patients have positive experiences within our departments
All radiographers, sonographers, medical imaging nurses, cancer care nursing staff and medical imaging students welcome.
