INVITED SPEAKER

Associate Professor Martijn Cloos

Associate Professor Martijn Cloos (PhD, 2012) is the Ultra High Field Facility Fellow at The University of Queensland’s Centre for Advanced Imaging and Australian Research Council (ARC) Future Fellow. His area of research is focused on the intersection between physics, engineering and medicine, with the aim to develop new technology and methods to enhance the capabilities of ultra high-field magnetic resonance imaging and open new windows of opportunity to study the human body.

Martijn completed his doctoral research at NeuroSpin, part of the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) and graduated (summa cum laude) with a PhD in Physics from University Paris Sud (France). After graduation, he accepted a postdoctoral position at the New York University School of Medicine’s Centre for Biomedical Imaging.

In 2015, he joined the New York University School of Medicine’s faculty to start his own research group in the centre for advanced imaging innovation and research (CAI2R). Early 2020, Martijn moved to Queensland and commenced the position of Ultra High Field Facility Fellow at the Centre for Advanced Imaging. In addition, he is also associated with Kyoto University (Japan) as a visiting lecturer.
