Welcome to the 2023 Mid North Coast Imaging and Therapy Conference – “Nurturing Regional Innovation.” Join us on Saturday, September 30th, 2023, at Opal Cove Resort in Coffs Harbour

This conference brings together all MRPs, recognizing the value of regional communities. Our aim is to provide engaging presentations based on our experiences, research, and education, fostering connections and networking opportunities.

We anticipate an exciting day with presentations from diverse disciplines. We encourage all MRPs and students to submit an abstract for consideration to present at the Mid North Coast Imaging and Therapy Conference 2023. 

We look forward to seeing you in Coffs Harbour in September, on the traditional lands of the Gumbaynggirr people, as we explore and nurture innovative ideas together. 

Invited Speakers

Dr Ross Mckay
Ross McKay, originally a radiographer, transitioned into medicine and currently practices as an interventional Radiologist hailing from Coffs Harbour. He received training at the University of Sydney and completed his Radiology studies in Canberra. Outside of work, Ross finds joy in spending quality time with his family, indulging in surfing, and exploring his culinary skills.

During his presentation, Ross will delve into the significance of establishing an interventional radiology service in a remote location, shedding light on its impact and challenges.

Meg Wilson
Meg Wilson, a graduate of Radiography in 1996 and ultrasound in 2000, started her career at Liverpool Hospital, a prominent teaching and trauma center in Sydney. Joining the Army Reserve in 2003 as an officer in the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps, Meg contributed to three overseas deployments: the Solomon Islands in 2004, Banda Aceh in 2005, and Iraq in 2008.

As the spouse of a soldier since 2004, Meg’s family experienced multiple relocations by the defence force, providing her with valuable opportunities to work in private practices across New South Wales, Queensland, and the Australian Capital Territory. Since 2008, she has focused exclusively on sonography, specializing in musculoskeletal and vascular ultrasound. Meg currently serves as the Senior Sonographer for South West Radiology’s Minto practice in the Camden area of Sydney.

Having worked as a Sonographer/Radiographer during the Banda Aceh tsunami in 2004, Meg is eager to share her experiences with others.

Simon Robertson

Simon Robertson is a History Teacher from Grafton High School. He is a father of three who loves camping, beer, travel and short drives in the car with a 2000-year-old Egyptian.

Inside Grafton High School, among the books and computers of the school library there’s a box that has fascinated and puzzled generations of locals. Inside this box, there’s an Egyptian mummified head. It’s not exactly clear how this head journeyed from Egypt to Grafton. Simon Robertson will enlighten us on the theories behind how this mummified head ended up in the Mid North town of Grafton. Recently Simon and a team took the head to have a CT scan. Dr McKay will talk about the findings of this CT scan and see if they shed some light on who or where this person came from.
