TERMS OF REFERENCE – GLOBAL MRP REFERENCE GROUP


The Board of the Australian Society of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy are calling for Expressions of Interest from Members for a Global Medical Radiation Practitioner Reference Group (GMRPRG). The Reference Group aims to provide support to, and develop connections with medical radiation practitioner colleagues in Lower and Middle Income Countries (LMICs). These activities would aim to foster mentoring and learning exchanges between professionals to support the safe and provision of medical radiation services in these countries.

Specific activities would be conducted in line with the ASMIRTs vision and mission. 

Operational and Strategic

  • Facilitation of voluntary mentoring assignments by Australia MRPs primarily in the Asia-Pacific region LMICs.
  • Fostering online educational relationships between Australian MRPs and MRPs in LMICs.
  • Promoting “sister centre” relationships between Australian centres, and centres located primarily in Asia-Pacific LMICs.
  • Provide support for, and advice to sites with existing medical radiation services in LMICs. This support and advice may relate to recruitment, equipment, technology, workforce planning and service delivery.
  • Provide support for, and advice to clinical sites in LMICs that intend on commencing medical radiation services in the future.
  • Hosting MRPs from LMICs in Australian clinical centres and/or at ASMIRT conferences or educational events.
  • Develop and foster connections and partnerships with groups with similar interests including the Asia-Pacific Radiation Oncology Special Interest Group (RANZCR) and the Asia-Pacific Special Interest Group (ACPSEM).
