O-Week 2023

AUSTRALIAN SOCIETY OF MEDICAL IMAGING AND RADIATION THERAPY

O-Week 2023

O-Week has been taking place across many universities throughout our wonderful country. It is a great opportunity for new students to meet with our student ambassadors and learn more about ASMIRT and the benefits of being a member.
ASMIRT sponsors O-week and sends each requesting university cool merch like water bottles, bone pens and cookies. The ambassadors do all sorts of fun things for the students. Read about some of them below…

The Deakin Uni O-week BBQ was amazing! We were able to talk to almost every student about ASMIRT which was great. Thank you to ASMIRT for sponsoring the BBQ we really appreciate the contribution.
Zac Maibaum – Deakin University

Our O-Week stall was terrific and there was lots of student engagement and sign-ups of new members to ASMIRT. It was a great opportunity for first year MRS students to see all the support and benefits that they could get from ASMIRT and our society. Thank you for the ASMIRT merchandise; the cookies, pens and bottles were a huge hit!
Lillian Amin – University of Newcastle

Peter and I hosted the ASMIRT stall during the O-week in Susan Wakil building for first year undergraduate students and graduate entry master students. We introduced ASMIRT to new students as well as provided QR codes for students to sign up as student members in order to get the ASMIRT freebies (water bottle and bone pens) and extra prizes for the spin-the-wheel activity to encourage more students to sign up. All students who attended the event at the Susan Wakil building signed up. The event was a huge success.
Marco Ma – University of Sydney.

2023 brought the return of O-week to QUT, after several years of COVID restrictions students were finally able to make the most of returning to campus to check out events, clubs and societies before settling into Uni life.
As an ASMIRT student ambassador it was fantastic to be on campus to meet so many enthusiastic first year medical imaging and radiation therapy students. Supported by the ASMIRT board the QLD student committee was able to provide free water bottles, bone pens and other goodies to ASMIRT student members…

Elizabeth Andersen – QUT

MRSS arrived early to set up the ASMIRT banner and merchandise. We had the Spectrum magazines on display and the ASMIRT stall was located right by the entrance of the meeting room which gave students the opportunity to have a quick browse. Lunch followed shortly after Tehnan’s presentation for ASMIRT, giving students time to ask any questions they may have had. Overall, a fun day meeting and interacting with the new students!
Emerald Nguyen – MRSS & Tehnan Shah – Monash University

Port Macquarie O-Week was fantastic. The future medical radiation scientists loved receiving their dinners on ASMIRT (a little pack containing noodles, coffee sticks and chocolate freddos)..It was so great to chat to so many students about university, placements and what ASMIRT can contribute to both their student journey and their careers.
Rheanna Darios – Charles Sturt University Port Macquarie

On 27th Feb, the ASMIRT student committee organised a stall for incoming medical radiation students as a part of orientation week.
We had the pleasure of meeting the new students and informing them of ASMIRT’s work and mission, with many of them signing up as student members.
Thank you to the student committee for helping out.

Carla Ceravolo – Uni of SA

It was a special day. Thanks for your assistance.
