About the Team:

The Florey Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Facility provides a dedicated team to deliver advanced structural and functional MRI services for research groups and clinical studies across Australia. Through the application of novel imaging methods these studies are aimed to improve our understanding of the developing and ageing brain, mental health, neuroprotection and repair; and to test advanced neuroimaging techniques for their future application in clinical practice.

With access to two 3T MRI scanners and MRI-guided High-Intensity focussed ultrasound soon to be installed, the team offer specialised technical support to acquire MRI data for world-leading research studies, as well as aiding advances in MRI technology by supporting MRI sequence development and the development of novel image acquisition protocols to advance clinical neuroscience research.

The Facility operates from 9am – 5pm Monday – Friday

About the Opportunity:

An exciting opportunity is available to lead a vibrant team of MRI Research Radiographers at The Florey.

The successful candidate will coordinate the daily operations of the Florey’s MRI Facility, including the supervision of staff, engagement with clients and stakeholders, delivery of scanning services, data storage, equipment maintenance and safety. Working in this facility provides a unique opportunity to actively engage in the advancement of novel imaging methods in clinical neuroscience.

This position is full-time ongoing and attracts an annual salary offer ranging from Grade 4, Year 1 MIT $118,809.60 to Grade 5 MIT $147,711.20, commensurate with relevant years of experience and as per the Allied Health Professionals – Victorian Public Sector Enterprise Agreement. 

The role requires being onsite at our Heidelberg facility Monday-Friday 9am-5pm.

The Lead Research Radiographer will report directly to the Head of Scientific Services.  

About You:

The successful candidate will have:

  • MSc (or equivalent graduate qualification) in Diagnostic Radiography, advanced imaging/MRI or associated field
  • Current AHPRA registration as Radiographer / Medical Imaging Technologist / Medical Radiation Practitioner
  • Minimum of Level 1 ASMIRT accreditation or Post-Graduate MRI qualification with a minimum of 7 years post graduate experience as a radiographer/ medical imaging technologist experience
  • Up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge of established and emerging MR imaging techniques and their application
  • Up-to-date knowledge of all aspects of MRI safety

Grade 5 applicants will also have:

  • PhD in MRI or associated field
  • A minimum of 10 years post graduate experience as a Radiographer / Medical Imaging Technologist
  • Level 2 ASMIRT accreditation
  • Experience on ISMRM/ISMRT committees
  • Demonstrated capability in managing a MRI department/facility
  • Demonstrated experience managing teams and external stakeholders
