Health Careers & Opportunities in the Northern Territory

If you want your career to go places then join Department of Health in the Northern Territory. The challenges and opportunities in health and community care in the Territory are like no other in Australia, from remote Aboriginal health to tropical health and urban tertiary care. Continued investments in Aboriginal health, remote health, acute care and community services offer many opportunities for health professionals who want to be part of making a difference.

Alice Springs has a population of 29,000, a town with an incredible sense of community and is a vibrant centre of activity. The spectacular MacDonnell Ranges provide an amazing backdrop to the town and allow for endless trips exploring their beautiful and breathtaking scenery, have an outback adventure and immerse yourself in the ancient land and cultures of Central Australia.

Alice Springs Hospital (ASH) is committed to all people needing our service. ASH is a 189 bed specialist teaching hospital situated in the Red Centre of Australia, with a strong focus on Indigenous and remote health. The population in this area is dispersed over 1.6 million square kilometres, and this dispersion provides unique and rewarding challenges in the delivery of a range of comprehensive health services.

This position offers the challenge of managing an outsourced radiology contract, and internal Cardiology Investigations Unit, with a mixture of public and private staff. It is a busy department seeing approximately 42,000 patients annually. Modalities include general x-ray, fluoroscopy, CT, mammography, MRI, ultrasound and echocardiography. You will lead a professional team of up to 40 staff dedicated to achieving organisational goals and objectives.

This is an exceptional opportunity to work in an inspiring and progressive team, working closely with enthusiastic, knowledgeable executive team. This is an opportunity to directly participate in closing the Indigenous health gap and provide care in remote Australia where it’s needed.
