The Andrew Love Cancer Centre (ALCC) is a comprehensive cancer centre that has provided expert care to those affected by cancer in Geelong and southwest Victoria in a supportive and caring environment since 1992.
Our service gives adults living in the Barwon South West region access to world class cancer treatment. Based in Geelong, we have state-of-the-art facilities, equipment and highly skilled health professionals who provide personalised treatment and care. Chemotherapy, haematology and radiotherapy services are provided at the Andrew Love Cancer Centre and inpatient services are provided in Baxter Wing 6 at University Hospital Geelong. Some outreach clinics are available to people living in rural areas.
The radiotherapy service at Barwon Health is one of four public radiotherapy service providers in Victoria. The service uses Varian planning software and has three Truebeam linacs with a dedicated planning CT and superficial radiotherapy unit. As a public radiotherapy provider the service works collaboratively with the other public radiotherapy centres to deliver personalised treatment for patients of Geelong and the Southwest region.
The Chief Radiation Therapist is responsible for the effective and efficient management, operation, development and delivery of a high quality radiation therapy (RT) service. The role leads a team of Radiation Therapists to coordinate and optimise service performance, ensuring the articulation with program imperatives.
As a key leader in the service the Chief RT consults with the professional managers (Head of Radiation Oncology, Operations Manager, Chief Medical Physicist, Nursing and Admin Managers) within the broader cancer program. This role will be accountable for ensuring that the Radiation Therapy service is consumer centred and integrated within Cancer Services and other key clinical delivery points within Barwon Health.
