Call for Expressions of Interest - ISRRT Councillor

The position of ASMIRT ISRRT Councillor falls due for appointment in April 2018. The requirements for the role are attached here. The position of ISRRT Councillor for Australia is open for expressions of interest.  The successful applicant will take up their appointment following the World congress of the ISRRT which will be held in Port of Spain, Trinidad from April 9-15 2018.  This appointment is for an initial period of four years, with an option to extend for a further four subject to successful reapplication to the ASMIRT Board.

Applications sought for the Health Workforce Scholarship Program

The Rural Workforce Agency Network has announced the launch of the first national call for applications for the Health Workforce Scholarship Program.

The Scholarship Program is intended to improve the access to services needed in remote and rural areas across Australia by supporting an increase in skills, capacity and scope of practice for medical, nursing and allied health professionals working in primary health care. The Rural Workforce Agency Network will deliver the Scholarship Program in each state and the Northern Territory.

To be eligible for the Scholarship Program applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Health professionals in the fields of medicine, nursing or allied health, including Aboriginal Health Workers.
  • Provide services or intend to provide services to MMM 3-7 locations.
  • Not be employed solely by the State Government.

Applications for the Scholarship Program opened on Monday 20 November 2017 and will close on Wednesday 20 December 2017, further national calls for applications will occur each year.

Each Rural Workforce Agency will accept and manage applications for health professionals within their state or territory. We ask interested applicants to visit the website of the Rural Workforce Agency relevant to their current location to view further information regarding the Scholarship Program, eligibility criteria and contact details.

Office closed for Melbourne Cup holiday

The ASMIRT National Office (25 King Street, Melbourne) will be closed on Monday 6 November and Tuesday 7 November 2017.

The office will resume normal operations on Wednesday 8 November 2017.

Expressions of Interest (EOI) to fill a casual vacancy on the Advanced Practice Advisory Panel.

One casual vacancy currently exists on the Advanced Practice Advisory Panel. The final appointment will be recommended by the panel and is subject to Board Approval.

Nominees should possess a strong interest in the continuum of competency open to practitioners, with an emphasis on educational and advanced practice issues. The invitation is open to all members currently engaged in academic or clinical practice.

Interested applicants will need to address the following criteria;

  • Current financial member of the Australian Society of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy
  • Extensive clinical experience in Radiation Therapy
  • Demonstrable interest, knowledge or experience in education and clinical practice
  • Available to travel to meetings interstate up to twice per year
  • Strong communication skills
  • Reliability and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines

ASMIRT are seeking a representative to participate in the ARPANSA Diagnostic Imaging Liaison Panel.

This person would be required to assist in the Diagnostic Reference Level (DRL) review and to discuss matters pertinent to the future use and development of MDCT DRL’s.

This representative must be currently involved in reporting DRL's to ARPANSA and must be involved in CT scanning and dose minimisation program
