Combined Malpractice, Public and Products Liability Insurance Policy
Posted 31st January 2017

The Society’s combined malpractice, public and products liability insurance policy (providing eligible ASMIRT members with Professional Liability Insurance cover), administered by our insurance broker, BMS and currently underwritten by Berkley Insurance Australia is due for expiry and renewal at 4pm on 31 January 2017.

Each year the policy is renewed seamlessly, with no break or drop in coverage, with a renewed policy picking up where the expiring policy lapses at 4pm on 31 January.

Although we are not in a position yet to provide a new Certificate of Currency (CoC) that will prevail once the current (PI) insurance policy expires at 4 pm on 31 January 2017, we can announce with absolute certainty that the new policy will commence at precisely 4pm on 31 January 2017. Close to, or on 31 January 2017 we will publish the new Certificate of Currency (CoC) in the ASMIRT member’s area – location: Resources / Member Support / Insurance.

It should further be noted that we will be announcing a new insurance underwriter to replace the existing underwriter, Berkley Insurance Australia as at 4pm on 31 January 2017.  We thank Berkley for significant support and hard work over the past few years and note the excellent legal support that they have provided to us and to our members.

Further announcements will be made in early February and following the publication of the new Certificate of Currency (CoC) on 31 January 2017 in the ASMIRT Members’ Area.

E-Newsletter | National Webcast and Forum Schedule | January 2017

The Australian Digital Health Agency invites the general public and clinicians to attend and participate in our national webcast on the 30th January 2017 to hear some of the high level findings from our national consultation towards delivering the National Digital Health Strategy - on how the Australian community would like technology to help improve their health and care.

We have heard people want to be more informed and involved with their own care and learn how to prevent illness and improve wellbeing. Clinicians and carers want to be able to securely share information so they can provide safe, high quality services that are better co-ordinated around a person’s needs.

We want to continue to work with all areas of the community – patients, healthcare providers, innovators, universities – to ensure what we do is always shaped around your health and care, needs, want and aspirations.  The findings from this national consultation will be used to develop the National Digital Health Strategy for delivery to the Australian Government in 2017.

Come along and hear what Australians have had to say about the opportunities that new technologies offer to improve health and care.

Reminder, you will also need to go to
