Applications open for Advanced Practitioner accreditation
Posted 16th April 2014

Are you working as an Advanced Practitioner?

Would you like this to be formally recognised by your professional body (the AIR), peers, colleagues and patients?

Would you like to be one of the first accredited Advanced Practitioners in Australia?

Applications are now open for Advanced Practitioner accreditation via the Champion Pathway.

The AIR, PAEB and APAP are pleased to announce that applications are now being sought for accreditation as an AIR Advanced Practitioner via the champion pathway.

The champion pathway is open until December 2015 for those practitioners currently working at an advanced level, who satisfy all of the criteria for accreditation as an advanced practitioner with the possible exception of attainment of a Masters degree. After December 2015 no further applications will be accepted for accreditation via the champion pathway.

A full breakdown of the relevant criteria and assessment methods can be found here, in the document Pathway to Advanced Practice.

If you fulfil the criteria, please submit your application addressed to the Advanced Practitioner Advisory Panel in the listed format. All applications considered to meet the specified criteria will be forwarded to the PAEB for assessment by three independent reviewers and, where considered successful, approval by PAEB. Applications received prior to 27 June will be assessed and, if successful, advanced practitioner accreditation will be conferred at the 2014 CSM.

For those applications considered successful there will be a cost for AP accreditation similar to that for Fellowship of the AIR (approx $220). Whilst the final cost is yet to be determined, it will be notified as soon as possible via e-blast.

Any questions regarding the process or criteria should be sent to APAP@air.asn.au.

"Heartbleed" OpenSSL Security Vulnerability - Global Security Issue - Notice to Members
Posted 16th April 2014

Members may have recently read widespread articles in the press regarding the global security vulnerability recently identified and potentially affecting many secure webservers and payment gateways globally. The flaws identified potentially give rise to the possibility that hackers exploiting these vulnerabilities could “eavesdrop” on otherwise secure and encrypted website communications particularly as this relates to web login passwords and secure payment gateway transaction information.

The AIR has responded quickly to mitigate any potential risk to member data. All secure AIR webservers/services have been patched to correct the global OpenSSL vulnerability and furthermore, all SSL (Secure Socket Layer) security certificate keys have now been reset.

Whilst there is no evidence to suggest that the global vulnerabilities have been exploited in any way in relation to AIR member data, as a precautionary measure, the AIR recommends that members should change their member web-login passwords and should continue to do so on a regular basis as a measure of good practice. Member login page - https://members.air.asn.au (username/password required) – Contact Information / Change Password – (bottom of screen).

If you have any questions or concerns you are asked to communicate these to info@air.asn.au.
